Military helicopter crashes in Colombia – Nine dead from the armed forces

A military helicopter has crashed in Colombia, killing nine members of the armed forces. The plane was on its way to Bolivar (northern) state, where the military is conducting operations against the country's largest cocaine cartel. “I mourn the death of the nine people on board a military helicopter that crashed while on its way to reinforce forces in the south, (in the province of) Bolivar, as part of operations against the Clan del Golfo,” Colombian President Gustavo Petro said via X. Neither the president nor the armed forces have yet clarified the circumstances of the crash, including whether the 4,000-member criminal organization was involved, according to military intelligence.
