Military high schools of Finnish, British and American soldiers in western Finland

At military high schools in Finland, soldiers from the NATO candidate state trained alongside units from the US and Britain.

A total of 750 soldiers took part in the four-day “Vigilant Fox” training, including 150 members of the British army and air force, the British Ministry of Defense announced today.

British soldiers, stationed in NATO member Estonia, were flown by Chinook helicopters to Ninisalo in western Finland, it said.

“The Vigilant Fox training facilities demonstrate the strength and interoperability of our Armed Forces with our US and Finnish allies and reaffirms our commitment to the defense and security of the Baltic Sea region,” said British Defense Secretary James Hippie. .

British Defense Attaché in Helsinki Stephen Boyle said: “As Finland moves towards full NATO membership, we will continue to look for opportunities like this to show solidarity with Finland, learn from each other and improve our capability to work together”.

Finland and neighboring Sweden applied to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization after Russia attacked Ukraine. In order to guarantee both countries military protection, even before their accession, Britain signed mutual security guarantees with them in May.
