The Civil Defense of São Paulo found the body of a 36-year-old military police officer this Wednesday afternoon (25).
He was missing after a boat capsized at the Xavantes Dam, in the municipality of Fartura, last Monday (23).
According to Civil Defense, the boat capsized in the Balsa da Taquara Branca region, after being hit by strong winds. In total, four people fell into the water, two of whom were rescued and two were missing – the military police officer and his brother.
The PM’s body was located 14 meters underground. His brother remains missing.
Civil Defense reported that, during the incident, rescue teams faced difficulties in the search due to the movement of the vessel, caused by the current and wind.
In a statement, the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP) lamented the death of the police officer, who was off duty when he was involved in the accident.
The São Paulo Fire Department continues the search to locate the body of the victim’s brother.
