Military Police officers are denounced after charging bribes during Prohibition blitz in Rio de Janeiro

Three military police officers were charged by the Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) for the crimes of concussion and disobedience. The action took place through the 2nd Public Prosecutor's Office with the Military Justice Audit.

The complaint states that the crime of disobedience was committed by the agents during a shift in support of Dry Law, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. When committing the crime, the police removed the operational camera from their uniform.

During the action, the agents approached the vehicles, charging drivers an amount of R$300 so as not to impound the car due to the lack of a physical Vehicle Licensing Registration Certificate (CRLV).

One of the extortion victims informed Prohibition agents about what had happened. When questioned, one of the police officers offered to return the amount to the victim.

The police officers involved in the crime were taken to the 2nd Military Judicial Police Station, and the cameras were seized.

According to the complaint, the police officers misused the operational cameras by removing them more than once during the approaches. Furthermore, the notification is the first for the crime of disobedience.

The removal of the accused from operational service was requested by the MPRJ to the Court.
