Members of a Armed militia group Who has been working for over ten years in regions where there are land conflicts in western Bahia were arrested on Friday morning (25). At least two arrest warrants were served.
The operation of the Bahia Public Prosecution Service (MPBA) targeted members of the militia, which is accused of intimidating dozens of families from traditional communities.
In addition to the two arrest warrants, four other search and seizure warrants were served in the municipalities of Corntina and Jaborandi. In the action, electronic devices, weapons and ammunition were seized.
Investigations pointed out the AGIA group through a private security facade company, which provided services to large Bahian farmers, practicing threats, bodily injuries and land grabbing against traditional background communities and pasture closure.
They acted “expelling traditional families and traditional peoples from their land,” according to the Special Action Group to combat criminal organizations (Gaeco). The company worked without legal authorization from the Federal Police.
The “Operation Terra Justa” was triggered by Gaeco and the Civil Police, with support from the Military Police and the Special Missions Policing Command.
