Balenciaga and Mina. Two worlds that are apparently distant, but perhaps not so far away judging by the unexpected collaboration between the maison and the Tigre di Cremona born following Demna’s dazzling admiration for the famous Italian voice. «It all started in 2011, one evening, in a bar-restaurant, in Veneto – the designer told Vogue Italy -. One of her songs was played on the radio, and, struck by the extraordinary emotional charge that her beautiful voice was able to express, I asked my Italian friends: who is this singer?».
It is precisely to her, muse and incarnation of Italian music, that the designer today wanted to dedicate Balenciaga Music | Mina, a limited edition capsule collection of merchandise, whose items will be available for purchase from next September 19th. But this is not just any collection.

Among the available pieces there is a t-shirt with the singer’s face printed on the front and the list of her albums on the back, and a pair of sunglasses designed by Demna himself inspired by the iconic eye makeup that became make-up signature of the artist. All good, except that inside the glasses, in addition to the singer’s laser-engraved signature, there is also a QR code that unlocks True Love, one of the songs from the new album of the singer to listen to in preview. The same possibility can be activated using the T-shirt, whose label is equipped with a chip, NFC (Near Field Communications), which, once unlocked through a compatible device, plays the new song that is part of the new album coming out in November. In short, a unique and exclusive opportunity.
Music and fashion have never been so close, similar, and intertwined. The soundtrack – it is right to say – to this very innovative union is the release, again on September 19, of a special playlist, composed of well 50 songs chosen by Mina for a total of three hours of listening.
This is a project that opens new frontiers to the enjoyment of music, but which also marks another milestone in Mina’s long career, far from the spotlight since 1978, namely the debut of his music in collaboration with a brand, and, in fact, his first collaboration with a fashion house.
