Mineral Agreement: Parliament of Ukraine should vote approval on May 8

The Ukraine Parliament will vote on May 8 the ratification of the Mineral Agreement signed with the United States, a parliamentarian said on Friday (2). Two other documents regarding the agreement will not need to be ratified.

The understanding was signed on Wednesday (30). He will give the United States preferential access to new investments in the extraction of natural resources from Ukraine and will fund investments in the country’s reconstruction.

The agreement, strongly promoted by President Donald Trump, is critical to Ukrainian efforts to resume ties with the US, a country that is the main military supporter in the war against Russia.

Relations between the two nations deteriorated after Trump’s inauguration in January.

Parliamentary Yaroslav Zheleznyak published the date of the next ratification vote in the Telegram Message Application.

He also stated that Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal told Parliament on Friday that two of the agreement related to the agreement covered their implementation and would not have to be ratified by parliamentarians.

The Ukrainian Office registered a bill to ratify the agreement on Thursday night (1st), according to the parliamentary database.

Deputy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko had already said that the government intended to approve it in Parliament in the coming weeks.

“We want to ratify it as soon as possible. So we plan to do so in the coming weeks,” he said.
