The Lite Hash Rate (LHR) algorithm, which limits cryptocurrency mining performance on some NVIDIA RTX 30-series GPUs, has been completely hacked by NiceHash. They confirmed that they have developed a workaround that allows you to mine Ethereum on NVIDIA video cards without any restrictions.
Individual enthusiasts and various development groups have found ways to bypass LHR’s hardware limitations with their own software in the past. However, they all met with varying degrees of success. For example, the developers of the NBMiner utility unlocked 70% of Ethereum mining performance. Some of them were paid, others found malware. Now there is a 100% unlock solution offered by NiceHash’s latest version of QuickMiner.
Currently, QuickMiner provides support for the DaggerHashimoto (Ethash) algorithm, which is compatible with almost all NVIDIA GPUs based on the Ampere architecture. The exceptions are the GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3080 12 GB models. Tom’s Hardware resource links this to the implementation of the updated LHR algorithm (LHRv3) for both video cards. In the utility test using the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Founders Edition, the hash rate was more than 100 Mhash / s (with a limit it was 77 Mhash / s). Theoretically, crypto enthusiasts can increase the speed to about 120 Mhash / s, but this will require overclocking the video card.
