Mini-guide in the Praia da Pipa region, in Rio Grande do Norte

Let’s Kite? the name of the party of Christmas Eve that happens in Pipe, no large northern river, in Portuguese, is a direct invitation: let’s go to Pipa! And this year, at a stage of the pandemic very different from last year, it is already possible to make more plans and idealize the turning point of dreams, but of course, without ever leaving the care and precautions aside. For this edition, the organization of the party is expecting around 3,500 thousand people, in a totally open environment, with an extensive program that will feature special shows by Gusttavo Lima, Thiaguinho, Léo Santana, Dennis, among others.

“We are going into the fifth year of Let’s Pipa and we are sure it will be the most amazing of all. In addition to being the year of recovery, and that in itself will make it special, our commitment to the client is to deliver one of the best events that Brazil has ever seen. For the safety of the public, we will demand complete proof of vaccination and we will follow all the protocols that the competent bodies require”, emphasizes Rafael Almeida, one of the organizers of the party.

How to get?

Praia da Pipa is located in the municipality of Tibau do Sul, close to Natal (about 85km from the capital – 1h30 by car). She was born in a fishing village. With narrow access roads, the city has limited vehicles.

Many companies offer the transfer service from Natal to there, starting at approximately R$400 per car for four people. One of these companies is Marazul Receptivos, which since 1993 has been working with various tourism services in the region. There are also those who prefer emotion. For those, there is the possibility of taking a buggy ride, passing by the beaches.

Chapadão and beaches in the region

The Pipa region is surrounded by beautiful beaches, which can be visited by buggy rides – such as Praia do Amor, Cacimbinhas and Lagoa dos Guaraíras – which yield great photos. Riding in this vehicle is an enjoyable adventure in itself. The tour with (or without emotion) can also take you to Chapadão, a natural lookout on top of a cliff – great option to watch the sunset or sunrise. There it is possible to observe the number of other cliffs, which can reach up to 40 meters. The now traditional lookout is usually part of this buggy tour, but it is possible to access it by walking along a trail, found at the end of Praia do Amor. At low tide, in fact, several natural pools are formed on this beach.

Dolphins Bay
One of the most preserved beaches in Pipa, Baía dos Golfinhos gathers a large number of mammals, which delight tourists who pass by. The beach, very quiet, is free during low tide. It is worth consulting before booking your visit!

Center
On Avenida da Baía dos Golfinhos, the main avenue in Pipa, is where everything happens – especially at night, after all the tours have been done during the day. Very charming, made up of cobblestone, the street is full of shops, bars and restaurants. There is also Vila da Mangueira, which became known for its similarity to some islands in Greece – a kind of gallery that has its small shops and restaurants. “Unstampable” and unmissable point for tourists.

The restaurant recommends ordering four to six dishes for two people. The portions are smaller precisely to be shared and the customer can try a little bit of everything. The truffled pecorino ravioli, for example, is the flagship of the house. It is stuffed with black truffles and sheep cheese. The menu has a different proposal from those mentioned above. It is aimed, in fact, for your day at the beach. Among the starters are the famous crab cone, cod cake and fried cassava.
