Last year, Mini, owned by German auto giant BMW, took the lead in electrifying its lineup and announced that its latest internal combustion engine model will hit the market in 2025, after which the company will focus exclusively on electric cars. Now Mini is preparing to release the first two all-electric crossovers. One of them could be the successor to the Mini Paceman, a three-door crossover that was discontinued in January 2017.
According to Motor1.com, Mini is going to resurrect the Paceman with a new look. It will be a four-door crossover with an electric motor under the hood. It was decided to abandon the release of the three-door modification, despite its stylish look, since the four-door looks more competitive in the market and is able to attract more potential buyers.
It is reported that the new Mini Paceman will receive all-wheel drive and a 60 kWh battery. But what type of transmission will be chosen is still unknown. In terms of design, Mini’s new electric crossover will be similar to the next generation Mini Cooper. The rest of the details are being kept under wraps for now.
