Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich resigned as minister on Monday (31) in a letter sent to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
A Smotrich spokesman said the measure was a protest against the request of the head of the nationalist-religious party Jewish Power, Itamar Ben Gvir, for more ministerial positions since returning to government.
The renunciation should not result in the collapse of the Netanyahu coalition.
The government approved its budget to 2025 in the Israeli Parliament last week.
