Federal Supreme Court (STF) ministers Luís Roberto Barroso and Kássio Nunes Marques were discharged this weekend after both were hospitalized as a result of surgeries.
Barroso returned home this Sunday (12) after passing through the ICU at the Sírio-Libanês hospital in Brasília. The minister was under medical observation after undergoing emergency surgery.
According to the STF press office, the minister was hospitalized at the end of February this year for “closure of an incisional hernia”, the result of a previous surgery.
He even participated, remotely, in a session of the STF on March 1st. Soon after, he had two episodes of intestinal obstruction and underwent further procedures.
Nunes Marques was discharged from the Albert Einstein hospital, in São Paulo, this Saturday (11). The magistrate was hospitalized recovering from intestinal surgery performed on February 16.
The procedure had been previously scheduled for the revision of a bariatric surgery performed in 2012. According to the advisory of the STF, the reason for the prolonged hospitalization was initially to “ensure that the bowel returned to function normally, which has already happened”.
Marques also continued working from the hospital. On Wednesday (8), he participated by videoconference in the plenary session of the Court.
