The Ministry of Economy released BRL 37.4 million to prepare new passports, but the money has already run out, according to information released this Wednesday (30) by the Federal Police.
According to the institution, the money made available will be enough to assist people who apply for a passport at PF posts until midnight this Thursday (1st), which will allow them to have the document prepared and delivered quickly.
The PF asked the ministry for the amount of R$ 75 million, but only half of the money arrived. With this, it will not be possible to reestablish the service of making new documents until the remaining amounts are transferred.
The printing of new passports had been suspended since last Saturday (19), due to lack of funds for immigration control and the issuance of travel documents. Online scheduling and service at the posts continue to operate normally, with no expected delivery of the requested passport.
Generally, the deadline for delivering the document occurs within six days after the face-to-face service, which varies depending on the place where the request was made. The books are printed at Casa da Moeda, in Rio de Janeiro. And this year, the PF units in the states, from January to October, delivered more than 1,940,784 passports.
Sought, the Ministry of Economy did not manifest itself.
