Ministry of Health receives notification of 3 cases of monkeypox originating in SP

The Ministry of Health confirmed that it was notified, this Thursday (23), about three autochthonous cases of monkeypox in the state of São Paulo, that is, cases that originated internally and are not imported.

These are three male patients, residents of the city of São Paulo, aged between 24 and 37 years, with no travel history to countries with confirmed cases.

“The cases are still under investigation to search for transmission links. The patients are isolated, with a stable clinical picture, without complications and being monitored by the State and Municipal Health Departments”, said the Ministry of Health.

To date, Brazil has recorded 14 confirmed cases of monkeypox:

  • 10 cases in São Paulo;
  • 2 cases in Rio Grande do Sul
  • 2 cases in Rio de Janeiro

Of these, 11 are imported, with a history of travel to Europe, and three are autochthonous.

“The Ministry of Health, through the Situation Room and the National CIEVS, continues to liaise directly with the state of São Paulo to monitor cases and trace contacts. The folder guides that suspicious cases be notified immediately”, reiterates the folder.
