Ministry of Health will anticipate flu vaccination in the North Region

The Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, said this Friday (10th) that she will anticipate the vaccination campaign against influenza for the Northern Region of the country next week. Still not exactly the number of doses that will be sent.

Traditionally, vaccination begins throughout Brazil during the month of April, but the minister responded to a request from state governments, as the region has different demands compared to the rest of the country.

In March, for example, there is a greater number of infected people and more visits to the public health system in these states.

According to the minister, it is essential to increase the general vaccination coverage of children and reach 90% of those vaccinated against Covid-19. According to the ministry, around 68 million people have not completed the vaccination schedule to protect themselves from the coronavirus.

She evaluates an intensification of the vaccination campaign and the use of schools to immunize children. The project is being designed in partnership with state and municipal governments.

The head of the folder also complained that she has received many videos with fake news about childhood vaccination and asked for an effort to spread pro-vaccination information.

Nísia Trindade also confirmed that there is no forecast for an increase in the target public for vaccination against mpox, formerly called monkeypox.

Immunization will begin next Monday (13th) and will serve around 16,000 people with the HIV virus and low immunity, health professionals who deal with the virus and patients exposed to secretions from suspected or confirmed cases of Mpox.

The ministry will continue to monitor national cases and assess the international scenario for maintaining the policy against the disease.
