Ministry of Internal Affairs with the Central Bank against cybercrime: Russia can create a single base for cybercrime

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, “against the background of the growth of cybercrime,” expressed themselves very clearly:

A specialized subdivision of the central office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia is interested in creating a unified base for cybercrimes. ”

However, the Ministry of Internal Affairs does not intend to issue more precise details on this topic and is considered premature.

TASS requested a comment from the Ministry of Internal Affairs after a recent report by the Izvestia newspaper that Russia is planning to create a unified cybercrime database that will combine information from the Central Bank and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Ministry of Finance, Sberbank and a number of other Russian banks also spoke positively about this.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the first four months of 2021, the number of IT crimes in Russia increased by 31.5%. At the same time, almost two thirds of such cybercrimes are committed using the Internet, over a third – using mobile communications.
