Ministry of Justice activates National Force to act on 7 de Setembro

The National Public Security Force was called to act on the 7th of September, in Brasília. According to an ordinance published this Monday (05), in the Official Gazette of the Union, the troops will be responsible for security in the vicinity of the Ministry of Justice.

The text signed by Minister Anderson Torres, head of the portfolio, authorizes “the use of the National Force, in an episodic and planned character, in actions to preserve public order and the safety of people and patrimony, in the defense of goods and of the Union, inside the Palace of Justice”.

The reinforcement of security in the central region of Brasilia is not only due to the official celebrations of Independence Day, whose main activity is the civic-military parade on the Esplanada dos Ministérios. The biggest concern is with the possibility of demonstrations or conflicts that generate violence.

The Department of Public Security of the Federal District reported that it will close roads that give access to the region as of tomorrow (06). In addition, there will be snipers and bomb disposal teams on site. Police officers will also monitor highways that give access to the federal capital to accompany caravans arriving in the Federal District.

Last year, for example, supporters of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) pierced the roadblock that prevented vehicles from accessing the Esplanade, raising fears of some act of violence against the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

On the day of the parade, there will be search points at the access to the site and the entry of people with weapons, poles and flammable items will be prohibited. Access to Praça dos Três Poderes will be restricted and there will be bars and police in front of the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs, in the STF and in the National Congress.

There will also be reinforcement of security at the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), which is located about two kilometers from Praça dos Três Poderes.
