Minoa Energy: The first photovoltaic park was inaugurated in Arkalochori

The inauguration of the first virtual clearing project of the “Minoa Energy Community”, which has already been interconnected with HEDNO and operates offering a power of 405 kW in the main building of the Region of Crete and its hundreds of members, took place in Arkalochori.

The event took place at the location where the photovoltaic park is located, south of the settlement of Arkalochori, on a plot of land granted by the Municipality of Minoa Pediados.

The president of “Minoa Energeiaki” Charalambos Giannopoulos, in his speech thanked the attending representatives of the local authorities, the Board of Directors, the volunteers, the executives of the institutions and the members of the energy community, emphasizing the contribution of the Region of Crete. . For his part, the governor Stavros Arnaoutakis, expressed his satisfaction for the implementation of this key project, which is a pioneering energy and institutional, while emphasizing once again the need to turn to clean energy, in order to reduce energy costs and the environmental footprint. “We provide our full support to the institution of energy communities, implementing the energy transition of the island, through detoxification from fossil fuels. The Region of Crete has existed from the first moment and will continue to be a supporter and helper of the first energy “, which now has more than 400 members, a fact that shows the tendency for energy sustainable solutions for the place, so that the citizens themselves reap the multiple benefits”, said Mr. Arnaoutakis. As mentioned, in the context of social and solidarity economy, in the afflicted area of ​​Arkalochori and in the midst of the unfavorable situation that prevails, the Region of Crete already covers 50 families of earthquake victims with free electricity, while the governor announced yesterday that the energy consensus The electricity needs of 50 additional relocated families will be met, while the beneficiaries will be able to use this facility in any space, whether they are accommodated or hosted.
