MIPI Automotive SerDes Solutions (MASS) interface specifications aim to simplify the integration of displays into vehicles

The MIPI Alliance, an international organization that develops interface specifications for the mobile and related industries, has announced the completion of the MIPI Automotive SerDes Solutions (MASS) interface specifications designed to simplify the integration of displays into vehicles. According to the MIPI Alliance, the specifications should become a standardized framework to support the growing bandwidth and functional security requirements imposed by applications in the designated area.

The new specifications are based on MIPI A-PHY, the industry’s first high-performance, high-reliability asymmetric SerDes interface, as well as the leading display protocols MIPI Display Serial Interface 2 (MIPI DSI-2), VESA Embedded DisplayPort and DisplayPort (VESA eDP / DP) to create connections between car displays and electronic control units (ECU).
