MIPT Master’s Degrees Issue NFT Diplomas

The master’s program of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) “Blockchain” issued its graduates non-fungible tokens of their diplomas, available for quick identification in any country.

MIPT reports that a diploma in NFT format is a graphic video object with embedded information about the student and the year of graduation.

NFT has electronic signatures of the members of the certification committee as an additional measure of authentication. Together with the NFT, the graduate receives the right to own the object, while the author of the issue is the magistracy. The NFT diplomas were issued using Ethereum on the OpenSea platform.

Vladimir Gorgadze, Head of the Blockchain Master’s Program, said that the issuance of NFT diplomas is a completely logical step:

“Our magistracy focuses on current knowledge and formats. NFT as a format has already successfully established itself in the market not only as a collectible, but also as a form of asset ownership. In this regard, the digital diploma perfectly demonstrates the main properties of the blockchain: transparency, immutability, security and traceability.”

Gorgadze assured that a diploma in this format cannot be forged or modified. The release states that issuing diplomas in the NFT format makes information about the degree more transparent and enables interested parties to trace the authenticity of the document. One of the advantages of an NFT diploma is the ability to instantly access a document from anywhere in the world, for example, to confirm your qualifications to a potential employer.

In June, Arizona State University filed an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to register brands associated with collectible tokens and the metaverse.
