The UN Global Compact, Rede Brasil and the Center for Studies on Labor Relations and Inequalities (CEERT) released, last Wednesday (14), data on aspects to be improved in relation to diversity, equity and inclusion in companies.
The results indicate that the engagement of senior leaders in diversity initiatives is still a significant challenge, with almost 60% of the companies interviewed reporting difficulties with the issue.
Misinformation about diversity in the workplace affects around 57% of business groups that responded to the survey.
“In a scenario of many gaps, we discovered, for example, through research, that women and black people are the groups for which companies carry out the most affirmative actions, but there are also LGBTQIAPN+ people, people with disabilities, people 50+, indigenous people, quilombolas, refugees, former prisoners, among other groups, who are considered when we talk about different types and stages of vulnerability”, Carlo Pereira, CEO of the UN Global Compact – Rede Brasil.
Conducted between April 8 and June 5, 2024, the survey included the participation of 128 companies, which responded to a questionnaire with 70 questions focused on practices related to ethnic-racial issues, gender and the inclusion of vulnerable groups.
Of the participating companies, the majority are privately held, of national origin and with more than 500 employees. Specifically, 56% of respondents have more than 500 employees, 81% are national companies and 19% are multinational companies.
Most companies have annual gross revenues of more than R$300 million, but almost 70% of them do not have goods or services aimed at minority groups.
In terms of sectors, 62% of companies operate in services, 21% in industry, 6% in agriculture-livestock-extractivism, and 12% in the third sector.
Furthermore, the promotion of black people in corporations remains slow, in part due to the lack of career plans and professional development projects aimed at this segment of the population.
