The French Miss Safiétou Kabengele surprised the public last Wednesday night (22) at the remove your wig during the parade Miss Grand International Beauty Pageant . It didn’t take long for the moment to go viral on social media.
The model, who has been fighting for years to represent the country at the event, starred in the scene during her swimsuit presentation – the preliminary phase of the competition.
Soon after appearing on the catwalk, Safiétou took the opportunity to interact with another candidate and, accompanied by a smile, removed the adornment, demonstrating all her pride in her look. Watch below.
On social media, Kabengele received a series of compliments and thanked him for the positive messages. “I’m glad you enjoyed this moment as much as I did. That was the moment of pure joy! Authenticity, dynamism, fierce and fun!”, she said.
This, in fact, is not the first time that Safiétou has taken a stand – in some way – on the importance of beauty contests having representation of black women with short or bald hair.
“I want to show that a black woman with short hair is as legitimate in the representation of Normanda as a blonde with blue eyes. I am Senegalese-Congolese and of Norman origin. It’s a whole. I have a multiple identity,” he said in an interview.
