The Civil Police of Santa Catarina stated, in a press conference, that the motivation for the possible murder of Araceli Zanella, 46 years old, and Valter Agostinho Farias, 62, missing since November 11th, in Biguaçu, in Greater Florianópolis, could it was a discussion about paying rent for a property belonging to the couple.
According to investigations, the couple would have met with the tenants of the property on the 11th of last month. On the same day, they were kidnapped, but moments later, they were removed from the place, still alive. Police believe they were both killed on the same day as the kidnapping.
According to Anselmo Cruz, the delegate responsible for the case, after being removed from the property, the couple was “passed on” to other people. Thus, investigations indicate that the possible murder would not have been committed by the property’s tenants.
The suspects used the victims’ cards to make purchases, in addition to making bank transfers with amounts from the couple’s accounts.
The police also state that investigations indicate that the crime was possibly previously planned. The case is investigated as robbery, kidnapping and embezzlement.
Prisons
Six suspects have already been arrested for their involvement in the couple’s disappearance.
Among those arrested are two women, one of whom was wearing an electronic ankle bracelet. A seventh suspect is at large.
Disappearance
The couple disappeared on November 11, and investigations indicate that they were murdered, although the bodies have not yet been located.
According to police, the couple was last seen in a warehouse they owned, previously used as a bar, which had been closed after reports of disturbing the peace.
They would have gone to the location to get the keys, but were kept in private during the day and removed at night. The crimes investigated include homicide, robbery, kidnapping and embezzlement.
