A woman who had been missing for a week in Massachusetts, in the United States, was found on Monday (3), stuck in the mud in a state park, police said.
Emma Tetewsky, 31, went missing around noon on June 26. She was known to visit Pinewood Pond in Stoughton and Lake Massapoag in Sharon, Stoughton Police said in a press release.
On Monday, Tetewsky was found outside Borderland State Park, about 30 miles south of Boston, by hikers who said they heard a woman screaming for help in a swamp-like area, police said. They were unable to reach her on foot, so they called authorities for help.
When officers arrived, they heard Tetewsky, but the police said they could not see her.
Three police officers walked about 15 meters on the shore, through thick bushes and swamps, to reach Tetewsky.
She may have been trapped for at least three days, police said.
“Using ATVs, Easton Police carried out rescue efforts to reach Emma and free her from the mud she had been trapped in for days,” police said. “We thank everyone involved. The public never gave up hope that she would be safely located.”
Tetewsky was conscious and alert but suffered serious injuries, though not considered life-threatening, police said. She was taken to a local hospital for observation.
