Missing teenager rescued from prostitution point in Yanomami territory

The Federal Police rescued a 15-year-old girl in Yanomami territory. She had been missing for a month and, according to the PF, was co-opted for prostitution. The young woman was located during patrolling on the Mucajaí River, in Roraima.

During the action, the federal police identified that the women who were on a boat, including the youngest, would also have been enticed by agents to become prostitutes in the mining.

To the Federal Police, the teenager reported that she would have received a proposal to be a cook at the mining through a contact on a social network and that she would have left for the mining on a flight the day after the contact, without notifying the family.

During the journey, according to the PF, the minor met four other women who would also have been tricked. The PF says that the young woman spent more than 20 days in the region.

The police investigation points out that, in addition to the violence suffered by the minor, there is a criminal organization involved in the co-option of women and adolescents to prostitute themselves in the state’s mining areas.

The young woman’s mother had registered the disappearance in a police report with the Civil Police of Roraima on February 12, and had no news of the minor.

The rescue action had the participation of Ibama, Armed Forces, National Force, Funai and PRF.
