The pilot of a small plane that threatened to shoot down the plane at a local Walmart store in Mississippi it landed without injuries, local officials said.
Earlier, the police department in Tupelo, Mississippi, said it was speaking directly with the pilot and that he had evacuated the Walmart and a gas station.
Tupelo Police Chief John Quaka said the suspect, Corey Wayne Patterson, was responsible for refueling planes.
While Patterson appears to have had some aviation training, he did not have a pilot’s license, Quaka said at a news conference.
Patterson was arrested and charged with grand larceny and making terroristic threats, said Quaka, who added that he also expects to face federal charges.
