The VKontakte team announced an interesting update of the mobile application. The VK application will begin to adapt more to each user – personalization will appear in the navigation and “Services”, and the side menu will become accessible from any tab.
The changes in the interface will take place in several stages. Machine learning algorithms will use information about the interests and needs of a particular user, his activity in various services and the peculiarities of using a social network to personalize.
The lower menu will be able to offer new services and take into account the interests of a person: adjust to his needs and change depending on the user’s preferences. For example, if a user often watches videos, shows and films, the “Video” tab will appear in the bottom menu with direct access to the VK Video platform, which contains more than 250 million pieces of content from VKontakte, Odnoklassniki and other platforms. Music lovers will see a quick transition to VKontakte Music in the lower menu, and communication lovers will see the Friends or Communities sections.
The side menu in the new version of the application will allow you to quickly go to your profile and its settings, where you can manage your VK ID account (formerly VK Connect), VK Combo subscription, VK Pay card, customize notifications or the appearance of the application. The side menu can be opened from any tab. In addition, a quick transition to global search on social networks will appear in this menu: communities, music, records, people, video content, announcements and other sections.
The second tab, called Services, will also get personalization. It is designed to help you quickly jump to the most popular and useful gadgets. For example, lovers of an active lifestyle will be able to get quick access to the VKontakte Steps service, cashback connoisseurs – to the VK Checkback mini-application, and those who are actively looking for work – to the VK Jobs service.
