Mobile World Congress: event brings the latest on mobile devices

A Mobile World Congress (MWC) is the largest connectivity and mobile technology fair in the world. The event takes place between February 26th and 29th in Barcelona, ​​Spain, where topics on the future of technology are discussed, in addition to the announcement of launches by major brands in the sector.

The 2024 event has more than two thousand exhibitors and its program includes lectures and exhibitions that address topics such as the future of 6G, Artificial Intelligence, digital ecosystems, among others. It is expected that 90 thousand people will pass through MWC over the next few days.

The event is held annually by GSM Association (GSMA) , an association that represents the main mobile phone operators and manufacturers, and had its first edition 37 years ago. Since then, it has only not happened in 2020, due to the pandemic.

Among the companies present this year, telecommunications giants Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Orange and Vodafone stand out, as well as technology and industry heavyweights such as Airbus, Google and Accenture.

MWC 2024 will have as central themes: augmented reality and the metaverse focusing on immersive experiences for consumers and companies.

Topics such as the acceleration of 5G will also be covered, including its applications in areas such as health, education, industry and smart cities.

The impact of fintechs on the financial sector will be analyzed, focusing on innovative solutions for payments, transfers and investments.

Furthermore, to discuss the digital transformation of various industries, successful cases will be presented with solutions for companies of all sizes.

In addition to the main program, the fair features exhibition spaces and themed pavilions. The “Journey to the future” exhibition explores how mobile technology is changing sectors of society, showcasing the all-electric flying car from Alef Aeronautics, the drone with artificial intelligence from Mossos d'Esquadra, the flying robots from Hovering Solutions, among other news.

Brazil is represented in the pavilion Brazil IT+ a partnership between SOFTEX and APEX Brasil, focusing on helping Brazilian IT companies on their international journeys.

Among the Brazilian participants are companies such as: Positivo, CI&T, Agile inc, Instituto Iracema, among others.

Big names in mobile technology, such as Lenovo, Samsung and Xiaomi, use the days before the event to prepare the ground, arriving with big promises for 2024. There, some of the main technology brands take the opportunity to anticipate what they should bring to consumers next year. throughout the year.

Lenovo presented its notebook with a transparent screen, a completely borderless device with a transparent keyboard area, in addition to a new line of notebooks and tablets.

Samsung presented its smart ring, with a promised launch in 2024, equipped with Galaxy AI technology. The Xiaomi 14 devices were also launched, which rely on artificial intelligence and the professional capabilities of the cameras to differentiate themselves from the market.
