Moderna is delaying the delivery of vaccines to the EU following an agreement with the Commission

Moderna will delay deliveries of COVID-19 vaccines to the European Union by several months, according to an agreement announced today.

According to Reuters, the vaccine manufacturer based in the USA will postpone the delivery of certain doses that were originally scheduled for the second quarter of 2022 for later in the year, the European Commission said in a statement.

This is the block’s second deal with vaccine manufacturers to optimize vaccine supplies as it prepares for a possible booster vaccination campaign in the fall.

In May, Pfizer and German partner BioNTech agreed to delay deliveries of COVID vaccines by three months.

The European Commission plans to finalize more such agreements in the near future.
