Judging by the comments on the forums, Windows 11 turned out to be twofold – on the one hand, the fresh design made the system modern and convenient, on the other hand, the innovations ambiguously replaced the functions that have been proven over the years. Realizing this, enthusiasts from all over the world came together to create the Rectify 11 project, a modified version of Windows 11 with improved elements that Microsoft never got around to. For the first time, the development of this modification became known in the middle of autumn 2021, and now the project has been released – the installation image can already be downloaded.
The Rectify 11 project is not aimed at providing any new features, but at bringing back the missing features of old Windows and refining those parts of the system that Microsoft has left unattended. In fact, the modification is Windows 7 in the design of Windows 11: old favorite features in a modern wrapper.
The changes affected primarily the key components of the system: “Start” in the standard place on the left, and the “Control Panel” is not abolished and still contains all its tools. Also, various icons and icons have been improved in those corners of the system where users usually rarely look.
In addition, Rectify 11 has a full-fledged dark theme – in Windows 11 it does not cover all interface elements.
Craftsmen paid special attention to the processing of Win32 applications – now they look as modern as WinUI programs.
The developers of Rectify 11 were not too lazy to rework the Windows installer. While the official one doesn’t seem to have changed since Windows 7, the mod has been updated to follow the canons of the Fluent Design style used throughout Windows 11.
Rectify 11 is distributed for free on the official website (sometimes it does not open without a VPN). The developers also have a Discord server to discuss the project.
