Deposits of households and private non-profit institutions increased by 721 million euros in June 2022, compared to a decrease of 336 million euros in the previous month, while the annual rate of change remained almost unchanged at 4.1% from 4, 0% last month.
According to Bank of Greece data, private sector deposits increased by €2 billion compared to an increase of €1.311 billion in the previous month, while the annual rate of change increased to 6.9% from 6.3% in the previous month. Business deposits increased by 2,000 billion euros in June 2022, compared to an increase of 1,647 billion euros in the previous month, while the annual rate of change increased to 16.2% from 14.3% in the previous month. In particular, MXE deposits increased by 2,442 million euros, compared to an increase of 1,488 billion euros in the previous month. Deposits of insurance companies and other financial institutions decreased by 443 million euros, against an increase of 159 million euros in the previous month.
On the lending side, the annual rate of change in total financing of the private sector increased to 4.5% from 3.3% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of total financing to the private sector was positive by €2.059 billion, compared to a positive net flow of €577 million in the previous month (revised data).
In more detail, the monthly net flow of financing to businesses, in June 2022, was positive by €1,976 billion, compared to a positive net flow of €589 million in the previous month, while the annual rate of change increased to 10.0% from 7.8% in the previous month. In particular, the annual rate of change in financing of non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 9.7% from 7.3% in the previous month.
The monthly net flow of their funding was positive by 1,856 billion. euros, against a positive net flow of 764 million euros in the previous month. The annual rate of change in the funding of insurance companies and other financial institutions fell to 12.2% from 12.4% in the previous month. Their monthly net funding flow was positive by €119 million, compared to a negative net flow of €175 million the previous month.
The monthly net flow of funding to individuals and private non-profit institutions was positive by €2 million in June 2022, compared to a negative net flow of €35 million in the previous month (revised figures). The annual rate of change in their funding remained unchanged at -2.1%.
