The annual rate of change of the total financing of the domestic economy was 9.1% in July 2022, from 7.7% the previous month, as the Bank of Greece announced today.
The annual rate of change in total deposits stood at 5.8%, up from 6.0% in the previous month, while private sector deposits increased by €483 million in July 2022, compared to an increase of €2,722 million in the previous month month, according to the figures of the Central Bank.
Financing the domestic economy
The monthly net flow of total funding was positive by €2,831 million in July 2022, compared to a positive net flow of €2,417 million in the previous month.
I.1 Funding of the general government
The monthly net flow of funding to general government in July 2022 was positive by €2,378 million, compared to a positive net flow of €360 million in the previous month. The annual rate of change in general government funding rose to 15.3% from 14.0% in the previous month.
I.2 Financing of the private sector
In July 2022, the annual rate of change in total private sector financing increased to 5.5% from 4.5% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of total financing to the private sector was positive by €453 million, compared to a positive net flow of €2,058 million in the previous month.
I.2.1 Business financing
The monthly net flow of funding to businesses in July 2022 was positive at €608 million, compared to a positive net flow of €1,974 million in the previous month, while the annual rate of change increased to 11.8% from 10.0 % last month. In particular, the annual rate of change in financing of non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 10.8% from 9.7% in the previous month. Their monthly net funding flow was positive by 401 million euros, compared to a positive net flow of 1,855 million euros in the previous month. The annual rate of change in the funding of insurance companies and other financial institutions increased to 20.5% from 12.2% in the previous month. Their monthly net funding flow was positive by €206 million, compared to a positive net flow of €119 million the previous month.
I.2.2 Financing of freelancers, farmers and individual businesses
In July 2022, the monthly net flow of funding to freelancers, farmers and sole proprietorships was negative by €54 million, compared to a positive net flow of €82 million in the previous month. The annual rate of change in their funding remained unchanged at 0.7%.
I.2.3 Financing of private and private non-profit institutions
The monthly net flow of funding to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by €100 million in July 2022, compared to a positive net flow of €2 million in the previous month. The annual rate of change in their funding remained unchanged at -2.1%.
Deposits in domestic credit institutions
The monthly net flow of total deposits was positive by €892 million in July 2022, compared to a positive net flow of €2,266 million in June 2022.
II.1 Deposits from the general government
General government deposits increased by €408 million in July 2022, compared to a decrease of €456 million the previous month, and the annual rate of change rose to 1.3% from -10.6% the previous month .
II.2 Deposits from the private sector
Private sector deposits increased by 483 million euros in July 2022, compared to an increase of 2,722 million euros in the previous month, while the annual rate of change decreased to 6.1% from 6.9% in the previous month.
II.2.1 Deposits from businesses
Business deposits decreased by 304 million euros in July 2022, compared to an increase of 2,000 million euros the previous month, while the annual rate of change decreased to 12.4% from 16.2% the previous month. In particular, MXE deposits decreased by 442 million euros, compared to an increase of 2,442 million euros in the previous month. Deposits of insurance companies and other financial institutions increased by 137 million euros, against a decrease of 443 million euros in the previous month.
II.2.2 Deposits from households and private non-profit institutions
Deposits of households and private non-profit institutions increased by 788 million euros in July 2022, compared to an increase of 722 million euros in the previous month, while the annual rate of change remained unchanged at 4.1%.
