Mohamed Al-Fayed, former owner of Harrods and father of Lady’s boyfriend, dies aged 94 in London

Egyptian businessman Mohamed Al-Fayed, former owner of Harrods department store and football club Fulham, has died aged 94, club Fulham said in a statement on Friday. He was the father of Dodi Al-Fayed, Princess Diana’s boyfriend.

Her son died alongside Lady Di, 26 years ago, on September 6, 1997 in a car accident in Paris.

The businessman’s death was communicated by the club.

“Everyone at Fulham was extremely saddened to hear of the passing of our former owner and chairman, Mohamed Al Fayed. […] His legacy will be remembered for our promotion to the Premier League, the Europa League final and player and team moments of magic. I always enjoyed my time with Mr. Al Fayed, who was wise, colorful and committed to Fulham, and I will be forever grateful for his trust in me to succeed him as president in 2013. I join our supporters around the world in celebrating the memory of Mohamed Al Fayed , whose legacy will always be at the heart of our tradition at Fulham Football Club,” said current club chairman Shahid Khan.
