He is hospitalized in a comatose state the perpetrator of the Chisinau International Airport attackaccording to what was reported by the Moldovan authorities, who announced that the 43-year-old is wanted in Tajikistan for kidnapping a bank employee.
The 43-year-old arrived by air on Friday in Chisinau from Istanbul and when he was denied entry to Moldova, was escorted by police officers to the departures in order to return to Turkey. Taking a police officer by surprise, he grabbed his gun and started shooting, killing two security forces men and injuring a civilian.
Acting General Prosecutor Ion Musteata announced that the attacker is still hospitalized in a comatose state, after being injured during the exchange of fire with police officers at the airport of the Moldovan capital. According to testimonies, he took about 10 bullets and underwent long-term surgery immediately after being transported to the hospital.
Tajikistan’s prosecutor’s office said the attacker was wanted in connection with the kidnapping of a bank employee in the capital Dushanbe last month.
For his part, Mousteata clarified that the 43-year-old will be tried in Moldova“provided he survives”, adding that the authorities believe that the episode is not related to “terrorism”.
