Moldovan police said fugitive pro-Russian businessman Ilan Shor had transferred $39 million in September and October to a voter financing scheme in the country’s presidential election and EU membership referendum held last Sunday. Moldovan authorities had announced that the election campaign was overshadowed by massive Russian interference in the electoral process aimed at defeating the pro-European side. Police had earlier charged Shore with an attempt to bribe 130,000 voters. He denied any involvement and the Kremlin denied any interference in the vote.
