In the frame Freedom of Opinion this Monday (1st), journalist Fernando Molica echoed the participation of Jair Bolsonaro (no party) in the G20. The Brazilian president addressed world leaders in Rome on Saturday (29).

To journalists, Bolsonaro spoke about the economy and deforestation in Brazil, saying that the country would be “very well” in the economic recovery.

In Molica’s assessment, the president of the Republic “lacked the truth” in his statements about the resumption of the economy.

“There were signs of recovery. Last year’s recession was heavily influenced by the pandemic and the delay in our vaccinations, and this led to a huge downturn in the economy. It was expected that there would be a recovery, mainly due to the increase in vaccination”, he stated. “But it is a timid recovery, caused by the hesitations and mistakes of the government itself.”

“The president is left with this empty speech, which reflects his isolation within the G20 conference. With the way he was isolated in front of other world leaders, he was wandering around Rome. The Brazilian presence was very depleted in this forum. It’s no use for the president to come up with optimistic statements that are contradicted by the numbers”, concluded Molica.

Freedom of Opinion had the participation of Fernando Molica and Marcelo Knopfelmacher. The frame airs daily on CNN.
