A mother says she's doing everything she can to convince her teenage daughter to move out of the house. Carla Bellucci, a social media influencer from the United Kingdom, said she was willing to part with $9,000 to enjoy the privacy that comes with a child-free home.
She also claimed it's in her daughter's best interest as well, so she doesn't make an “idiot”.
“What kind of quality of life do these parents have?”
The mother-of-four says the money will be “a gift” to the 19-year-old daughter her for her birthday, provided she packs her bags right after.
She told the Daily Star that she believes children should leave home as soon as they turn 18, otherwise they risk being pampered.
“I left home at 16 and I was absolutely fine and survived,” she said. “What kind of quality of life do these parents have? You can't have time with your husband or partner because you have teenagers around you all the time.”
Carla added that while her children are “good kids”, she worries that if they don't go out and live in the world on their own, they will end up “stupid”. “Mine are good kids, but they're old enough to go out into the world and I think people coddle them so much and I don't want to be horrible, but these teenagers or young adults end up being stupid,” she said.
So what does her daughter think of all this? Luckily for her mom, she can't wait to get out of the house! Apparently, living under her roof comes with “many restrictions,” such as having to keep quiet nights for her little sister and not being allowed to party or host people.
Some commentators on social media felt that the mother was putting her partner over her child. “I would move heaven and earth for my children, they will forever come above anyone!” wrote one mother.

“My son is 28 and I love having him at home and so does my other half,” was another comment.
“If she wants to move in, fine…but kick your teenager out because you have a boyfriend. I couldn't… my kids will fly the nest when they're ready,” another noted.
