Moment launches CineFlare Streak filter to simulate anamorphic effect

Moment, a manufacturer of lenses and shooting accessories including filters, has introduced the CineFlare Streak filter. It’s “the secret sauce for adding anamorphic highlights to your footage without using a dedicated lens,” she says. Instead of spending money on an anamorphic lens, you can use the CineFlare Streak filter mounted on a regular mirrorless or DSLR lens to get closer to the classic “cinematic” picture by simulating the characteristic flare.

The CineFlare Streak filter is available in 67mm, 77mm and 82mm sizes. It comes in two flavors, Blue Streak and Gold Streak versions. The first creates a blue streak of highlights, and the second creates a golden streak. The difference between the two can be seen in the example below, where the image on the left was taken with the Blue Streak filter and the image on the right was taken with the Gold Streak filter. The filter ring is made of aluminum. The filter can be rotated and other filters can be installed on it. The multi-layer coating protects the filter from scratches and dirt, and also prevents unwanted reflections.

Of course, keep in mind that the filter only produces flare similar to the flare produced by an anamorphic lens, but it does anamorphic.

The Moment CineFlare Streak Filters are $ 85 in diameter, $ 95 in 77 mm, and $ 100 in 82 mm.
