Monique Medeiros, mother of Henry Borel, leaves prison after court decision

Monique Medeiros, accused of the death of her son, Henry Borel, was released from prison this Monday (29) after a court decision.

Last Friday (26), Minister João Otávio de Noronha, of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), granted Monique the right to respond to the process in freedom.

She had been under house arrest since the beginning of April, but in June, by order of the Justice, she returned to the Gericinó Complex, in Rio de Janeiro.

The decision to release was made by Minister João Otávio de Noronha. In it, the magistrate points out: “I grant the ex officio order to revoke the patient’s preventive detention, ensuring the right to respond to the process in freedom, without prejudice to the new enactment of a personal precautionary measure based on contemporary reasons”.

The boy Henry died in March 2021, and the doctor, former councilor and ex-boyfriend of Monique, Jairo Souza Santos Junior, Dr. Jairinho, is also investigated.
