MonsterAdapter, a lens adapter specialist, has announced the new LA-FE1. This adapter enables autofocusing of Nikon AF-I, AF-S and AF-P lenses when used with select Sony mirrorless cameras.
According to MonsterAdapter, the company has previously released a similar product, but it was sold under a different brand. The variant with the MonsterAdapter logo is “significantly improved in both firmware and hardware.”

In addition to autofocus, electromagnetic and mechanical iris control is provided for compatible lenses. If the lens does not support autofocus or is designed for a drive built into the camera (“screwdriver”), the adapter, of course, does not add the autofocus function, but the object can be used in manual mode.
The adapter also supports the stabilizer built into the lens. Moreover, it can be used simultaneously with the stabilizer built into the Sony camera.
Autofocus system features such as human and animal eye focusing, and high-speed continuous shooting with focus tracking are supported.

The list of fully compatible cameras includes a7 II (with firmware 2.0 or newer), a7 III, a7R II, a7R III, a7R IV, a7S III, a7C, a9, a9 II, a6100, a6300, a6400, a6500 and a6600. With “limited or no autofocus”, the a7, a7R, a7S, a7S II, a5000, a5100, a6000, and NEX series cameras can be used.
The device is equipped with a micro-USB port for firmware updates.
The novelty is already available in China. There is no information on sales in other countries yet.
