Two governments at once – the US and South Korea – wanted to prosecute Do Kwon on criminal charges. Now the highest and lowest courts in Montenegro have come to a mutual decision on which country the high-profile trial will continue in.
A Montenegrin appellate court has ruled in favor of South Korea, which may be a more favorable legal jurisdiction for the former head of Terraform Labs than the United States, where he faces more than 40 years in prison. No date has yet been set for Do Kwon’s extradition to South Korea.
Earlier, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutor’s Office added new materials to the fraud case brought against Terraform Labs and its co-founder Do Kwon, proving the presence of intentional deception of customers in the actions of the company’s top management.
