Moraes demands that the prison inform the possibility of exams in Roberto Jefferson

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), determined, this Tuesday (11), that the director of the prison unit where former federal deputy Roberto Jefferson is to inform within 24 hours the possibility of carrying out health checks.

“Officially inform the Director of the prison unit where the applicant is held to inform, within a maximum period of 24 (twenty-four) hours, about the possibility of carrying out, in the prison hospital, the examinations indicated as necessary by the prisoner’s doctors. ”, determined.

Jefferson’s defense asked that he be transferred from the Gericinó Penitentiary Complex in Bangu, where he is being held, to the Samaritano Barra Hospital.

Roberto Jefferson has been detained since August 2021, after Moraes’s determination. He is accused of participating in an alleged digital militia that carried out attacks on democratic institutions. The criminal organization would have been set up mainly for the 2022 elections.

This is not the first time that the former deputy has needed medical attention. On August 30, 2021, he felt sick and was admitted to a UPA in the Bangu complex, being transferred, in September, to Hospital Samaritano.

Later that same month, the defense again requested transfer to a private hospital for medical treatment, which was denied by Moraes.

In a report attached to Jefferson’s lawsuit, a doctor who saw him this week states that “the patient has, since January 7, persistent fever and respiratory symptoms, still without an etiological diagnosis.”

“Due to the current epidemiological moment, I suggest transferring the patient to a hospital unit to continue the diagnostic investigation and institute timely treatment”, concludes the doctor Abdon Hissa, who signed the document.
