More than 10 million devices switched to HarmonyOS in just a week

On June 2, the Chinese company Huawei held a major presentation on the launch of its own operating system, HarmonyOS 2.0. And in just a week since its launch, a record number of devices have switched to the new platform.

Huawei has officially announced that a week later, the number of active devices on HarmonyOS 2.0 has exceeded 10 million. And given that there are currently about 200 million Huawei and Honor smartphones around the world and most of these models are compatible with the new OS, there is no doubt that this figure will continue to grow at a record pace. The manufacturer itself predicts that by the end of 2021, about 300 million devices will operate under HarmonyOS, 100 million of which are partner products.

Recall that Huawei is positioning HarmonyOS as a universal cross-platform system with completely open source, which is supposed to be installed on a variety of devices – from smartphones, tablets and smartwatches to TVs, refrigerators and cars. Huawei has already promised to transfer about 100 models of its mobile devices from Android to HarmonyOS 2.0. Huawei’s Android alternative has attracted many Chinese brands, including Meizu and Midea.
