Today, more than 1,000 different trade unions and activist groups in South Korea have issued a joint statement against the parole of heir and informal head of Samsung Group Lee Jae-yong.

At a press conference, representatives of 1,056 trade unions, human rights groups and civic organizations said Li’s parole would be an act that denies the existence of Moon Jae-in’s government and symbolizes a move away from the so-called candle revolution that led to regime change in 2017.
At the same time, Jae Young has already served 60% of his sentence, which gives him the legal right to review parole in accordance with the ordinances of the Ministry of Justice. It is reported that next week the ministry plans to hold a meeting of the commission on this case.
