The Ministry of Justice and Public Security released, this Friday (7), the numbers of the second edition of the Maria da Penha operation, to combat violence against women, which took place between August and September, throughout Brazil. .
According to the ministry, arrests for domestic assault and femicide reached 12,396 in one month.
72,525 police reports were registered and 41,600 protective measures were granted, requested or issued.
Also according to the ministry, São Paulo (9,416) and Rio de Janeiro (5,197) were the states with the most calls reporting domestic violence to 190.
This year’s action had the participation of 221 professionals who worked in 26 states and the Federal District. Last year’s Maria da Penha operation had 14,100 arrests and 39,800 protective measures required or issued.
