The Public Ministry and the Civil Police seized 23 firearms from the president who was removed from the transport company Upbus, this Tuesday (25). He is a defendant for money laundering and criminal organization in São Paulo.
The action is an offshoot of the “End of Line” operation, launched in April, of which the leader is one of the targets, and investigates bus companies that operate municipal lines in São Paulo.
In a statement, the Civil Police stated that they were contacted by members of the cooperative succeeded by Upbus because they had been expelled by means of physical force and verbal intimidation from the company’s headquarters, by the company’s director, on June 5th.
The president of Upbus is prevented by court order from visiting the location. The state Public Prosecutor’s Office requested the suspension of the defendant’s records of possession and carrying of firearms, “due to the risk to the entire community and those involved in the current administration of the company”.
In addition to the 23 firearms, the Civil Police also seized the accused’s cell phone and the image storage device from the company’s monitoring system.
According to investigations, the companies Upbus and Transwolff are identified as intermediaries for laundering money from organized crime. They would have received more than R$800 million from public coffers last year alone.
These companies, according to investigations, are linked to the criminal faction Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and used to launder money obtained from various crimes, such as drug trafficking and robberies.
