At a time when the Biden administration and the European Union have asked Ukraine to lower the conscription age to 18 as a condition for sending the new package of armaments and financial aid, Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation has launched an investigation into possible desertion and abuse of power to the French-trained 155 Mechanized Brigade “Anne of Kiev”, as reported by the Kyiv Independent. The statement comes after a foreign media investigation claimed that soldiers of the unit, now deployed near Pokrovsk, suffered casualties and mutinied in large numbers due to poor command and organization on the Ukrainian side. This advanced brigade is a bet of Kiev’s partners since it has been chosen to receive new Ukrainian military formations with heavy equipment.
