More than 2,500 deaths and nearly 100,000 cases in 24 hours in Brazil

The Brazilian Ministry of Health announced yesterday Wednesday that in the previous 24 hours the deaths of another 2,507 patients with COVID-19 were confirmed and another 95,601 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed.

The Latin American giant state has so far recorded 467,706 deaths out of a total of 16,720,081 infections.

It is the second most severe new coronavirus pandemic in the world, behind only the United States, and the third highest number of infections, behind the United States and India.

Argentina: Deaths approach 80,000, more than 3.85 million cases

The Argentine Ministry of Health announced yesterday Wednesday that another 587 patients with COVID-19 died in the previous 24 hours and 35,017 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed.

The official pandemic of the new coronavirus in the Latin American country has so far reached 79,320 deaths out of a total of 3,852,156 infections.

The occupancy rate of intensive care units (ICUs) is 76.6% nationwide and 74.9% in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area, which includes the capital and 40 other surrounding municipalities.

The province of Buenos Aires is the hardest hit by the pandemic, with more than 1.63 million cases.

The new wave of pandemics has led the country to the “worst moment” of the health crisis, according to the government, which is continuing the race to immunize the population.

According to the latest data, 15,373,890 doses of vaccine had been distributed as of yesterday, of which 12,801,115 had been administered, with 9,924,476 citizens having received at least one and 2,876,639 both.

Mexico: Another 306 deaths and more than 3,200 cases

The Mexican Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday 306 deaths of patients due to COVID-19 and 3,269 cases of SARS-CoV-2.

Officially, the death toll from the new coronavirus pandemic in the state of 126 million has so far reached 228,146 deaths out of a total of 2,423,028 infections.

The Mexican government acknowledges that the official account – the fourth heaviest in the world – is highly undervalued. Data on over-mortality released by the Ministry of Health earlier this year showed that COVID-19 deaths were at least 60% higher than those recorded.

Chile: Over 5,600 cases and 41 deaths in 24 hours

The Chilean Ministry of Health announced yesterday Wednesday that 5,631 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed in the previous 24 hours and 41 patients with COVID-19 died.

The pandemic of the new coronavirus in the Latin American country has so far reached 29,385 deaths out of a total of 1,394,973 infections.

The selected active cases decreased to 43,069. In the last seven days, according to the ministry, only two of the 16 regions recorded a decrease in cases. The southern region of Eisen has the highest incidence rate in the country.

Chile remains facing a wave of infections despite progress in the population’s immunization campaign against COVID-19. More than 52% of the target population has received both doses of the vaccine, according to official data. Santiago seeks to vaccinate 15.2 million people by the middle of the year to achieve collective immunity.
