A total of 276 trucks with humanitarian aid entered Gaza this Friday (19), according to a statement from the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (Cogat), the Israeli military body that manages Israeli policy in Gaza and the West Bank.
According to the agency, the vehicles were inspected by Israeli authorities before entering the enclave.
In addition to land transport, 144 pallets containing tens of thousands of aid packages were airdropped into northern Gaza on Friday, Cogat added.
“Nine medical aid trucks were directed to the Emirates Hospital and nine medical aid trucks were directed to the Red Cross Hospital,” the statement said.
Israel said last week it had begun taking several important steps to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza amid intense pressure from the United States.
However, aid officials said progress was slow and much more needed to be done as warnings grew about famine in the Palestinian enclave.
