The number of coins blocked in Ethereum 2.0 continues to grow. In mid-January, 2.5 million ETH was blocked for staking – almost 2% of the Ether in circulation. As a reminder, the first phase of Ethereum 2.0 was launched on December 1st.
Ethereum 2.0 capabilities will expand as the next phases roll out. Beacon Chain was launched a week after more than 524,288 ETH were blocked in the Ethereum 2.0 deposit contract, and more than 16,384 validators expressed their willingness to join the network.
Recently, CoinShares analysts stated that Ether has become the most popular asset for institutional investors. At the same time, the launch of ETH futures on the CME exchange took place only on February 8.
